English-French royalty, the Duchess of Suffolk as the third daughter of Henry VII and the sister of England’s King Henry VII.
Her father arranged her marriage to Archduke Charles (later the Holy Roman emperor Charles V) in 1507; however, he renounced this engagement during 1514 due to political considerations and instead arranged for her to become the third wife of Louis XII of France. They married on 10/09/1514, but Louis died on 1/01/1515. In February or March 1515, she secretly made a second marriage to Charles Brandon, duke of Suffolk, in order to avoid being forced into a second political union. She had three children, Eleanor, Henry and Frances, and was the grandmother of Lady Jane Grey, the titular queen of England for nine days in 1533.
